Family open day in Leicester

Residents in Leicester have been getting involved in a family drop-in event organised by our team in Leicester. Around 25 people came along to the lunch and drop-in event at Braunstone Gate on Sunday 8 October.

The initiative was staged by Sustrans staff and volunteers to promote the projects and activities that we’re involved in throughout Leicestershire.

We have 4,000 volunteers nationally and 25 within the county and we’re looking to recruit more to support a range of new projects in Leicestershire. Volunteers are needed to support bike maintenance sessions, led rides and information events at schools and in communities.

At the event, there was an opportunity to hear about how we are connecting people to places, creating liveable neighbourhoods and to get a taste of the kind of activities that are available for new volunteers to get involved in.

Speaking at the event Dan Robertson, Sustrans Volunteer Coordinator, said:

“We’re really pleased with the support this event has received. It’s been a great way to find out more about Sustrans and what we do. We always need help from volunteers and we’d love to recruit some more! If you weren’t able to make the event but would like to get involved why not drop us a line and see if it’s for you?”
