Cycling safety laws must be part of a broader review of road safety issues

21 September 2017

Commenting on the review of cycling safety laws announced by Government today, our CEO Xavier Brice said: “The proposed review is an important step to bring cycling laws up to date and must be part of a broader review of road safety issues.    “There is an urgent need to review how the justice system deals with mistakes, carelessness, recklessness and deliberately dangerous behaviour by all road users, including pedestrians and people on bikes.    “Roads that are safe make our towns and cities thrive, encourage physical activity, such as walking and cycling, and empower communities.    “We look forward to working with Government and partners on the proposal and will continue working with local authorities to deliver practical solutions to improve safety for all road users.”
